Our Board of Trustees:
Denise BlumenthalDenise Blumenthal is Director of the Educational Programming Department at WGBH. She has spent over twenty years researching, implementing, and evaluating professional development programs across numerous content areas, including Learning that Works, an NSF funded project connecting high school science to workplace science and Beyond the Bell (about after-school programs). Denise holds a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin and an Ed.M. from Harvard University.
Paul Deninger
Paul Deninger is Chairman of Jefferies Broadview, a leading global advisor and private equity investor in the IT, communications, and media industries. He joined Broadview in 1987 after several years in the software industry. With more than a decade's experience in technology mergers and acquisitions, he has advised on over 100 transactions, and speaks frequently on technology trends and strategies for maximizing shareholder value. Paul serves on the boards of directors of Netegrity, The Boston Globe Newspaper Company, and TechNet Massachusetts, where he is Co-Chair of the Executive Council. He holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.S. from Boston College.
Michael Duffy (MATCH Foundation Board Member)Michael Duffy was a founding Board member at MATCH. He is currently the Director of the Charter School office for the New York City Department of Education.
Kenneth ElmoreKenneth Elmore has been Dean of Students at Boston University since August 2003. A native of Brooklyn, New York, Dean Elmore has over twenty years of experience in higher education administration. A graduate of Brown University, Boston University and the New England School of Law, Dean Elmore previously served as associate director in the Office of Residence Life at Boston University for over eleven years. He also practiced law in the Boston area, specializing in legal issues involving education. Dean Elmore is especially interested in issues surrounding community development and social justice, and seeks to motivate students to explore such topics through programming and initiatives sponsored by his office. He is also an avid fan of basketball, fitting coaching and the occasional pick-up game into his busy schedule. He and his family live in Brookline, Massachusetts.
Bridgitt EvansBridgitt Evans is the founder of EREM Investments, a private real estate development and investment firm. Previously, she was a portfolio and investment manager at Aldrich, Eastman & Waltch, an international real estate investment management and pension advisory firm. Bridgitt serves as Treasurer and Trustee of The Winsor School, a Trustee of The Fessenden School, a Trustee of The Institute of Contemporary Art and a member of Harvard Business School's Board of Dean's Advisors. Bridgitt is a graduate of Miami University and Harvard Business School.
Jamie GoldsteinJamie is a partner at North Bridge Venture Partners. He specializes in investments in the communications and enterprise software industries. Jamie is a graduate of M.I.T. and Harvard Business School.
Ray Hammond
In 1988, Reverend Ray Hammond founded and became pastor of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Boston. In this capacity, he has a long history of involvement with youth and community activities. Rev. Hammond joined the Board of the Boston Foundation in 2000, and became Board Chair in 2002. He is a Member of the Executive Committee of the Black Ministerial Alliance and was also one of the founders of the Ten Point Coalition. Rev. Hammond is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Medical School. He also earned his M.A. in the study of Religion at Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.
Charlotte C. HartCharlotte Hart is a retired technology executive who helped grow a Cambridge-based software development company, Programart, from less than $2M to $50M in revenue and from 10 to more than 220 employees. Prior to entering the high-tech industry, Hart taught Science and Math in the Brookline and Newton Public School Systems. She holds a B.A. in Chemistry from Agnes Scott College, and a M.Ed. in Science Education and M.A. in Computer Science from Boston University. She also sits on the boards of Camp Fire USA, the Boston Club, and her local United States Power Squadron. Ms. Hart was recently featured in an article in the New York Times.
Mini Jaikumar (MATCH Foundation Board Member)
Mini currently serves as the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations at Tufts University, and is the former Director of Development at MATCH.
Stig LeschlyStig teaches about education and entrepeneurship at Harvard Business School, where he has a joint appointment to the Entrepeneurial Management Group and the Initiative on Social Enterprise. He has written a number of case studies about urban education reform, including systemic efforts in Seattle and Chicago, and those of the Gates Foundation to replicate high-achieving small high schools. Previously, he was VP and General Manager of Amazon.com; CEO and Founder of Exchange.com; assistant principal of St. Mark's School in Harlem, NY; and a consultant to McKinsey & Co. He has a JD and an MBA from Harvard University and a BA from Princeton University.
Robert ManningBob is an Executive Vice President with Janney Montgomery Scott. He is currently a member of the Institutional Review Board at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Before moving to Boston in 2003, he provided tuition support and mentoring for a number of inner city students through the Student/Sponsor Partnership in New York City and the Student Partner Alliance in northern New Jersey. He also led a project to place an "I Can Learn" interactive mathematics classroom at St. Mary's High School in Jersey City, N. J. Previous board experience includes Union Congregational Church in Upper Montclair, NJ; St. Mary's High School in Jersey City, NJ; Habitat for Humanity Co-op in Newark, NJ; and Bolt Technology Corporation, South Norwalk, CT.
Ann SaganAnn Sagan has volunteered at the MATCH School as a dean. She was formerly a financial analyst with The New York Times Company. She holds an undergraduate degree from Duke University in public policy, an MBA from the University of Chicago and a Master's Degree in Education from Bank Street College in New York. Her previous board experience includes 3 years on the Board of Education in Montclair, NJ where she served as chair of the finance and budget committee. In addition to serving as a member of the school's Board of Trustees, Sagan together with her husband Paul are the lead donors to the school's capital campaign.
Cathleen Douglas Stone
Cathleen Douglas Stone is Special Assistant for Environment to the Mayor of the City of Boston (1997 to present). She is also President of the James M. and Cathleen D. Stone Foundation. She earned a BA from American University in 1969, a JD from American University in 1972, and an LLM from the Georgetown School of Law in 1974.
She serves on the following other Boards of Directors:
American Conservation Association, New York; Boston Harbor Islands Alliance, Boston; Boston Water and Sewer Commissiont; Museum of African – American History, Boston; the School of Social Science, Urban Affairs and Public Policy, Northeastern University; the Supreme Court Historical Society; and The Wilderness Society.
She is married to James M. Stone, and has two children, Curtis and Lauren Stone.
Matt Vettel (MATCH Foundation Board Member)
Matt Vettel is the Chairman of the MATCH School Foundation. He is a managing partner at Great Hill Partners, investing in a variety of industries, including education, healthcare, media, software and transaction processing. Matt is a graduate of North Dakota State University and Harvard Business School. |
