What makes the MATCH School different?
Small size Teachers, tutors, and staff value relationships with kids and parents; that's why we invest a lot of time creating and nurturing those connections.
Excellent faculty and staff
Led by High School Principal Jorge Miranda (a former MATCH teacher), Middle School Principal Lisa Hwang (a former MATCH Vice Principal) and Executive Director Alan Safran (a former MA Deputy Commissioner of Education), the teachers have an average of 5 years in the classroom, and are some of the best around.
The MATCH Corps
These are outstanding recent college graduates from the best universities around the nation who work full-time as tutors, teaching assistants, and coaches in exchange for an AmeriCorps stipend and housing on the school's third floor. The High School Corps is led by Director Alia Smith and the Middle School Corps is led by Director Danny Clark.
University collaborationsWe partner with local universities (Boston University, M.I.T., and Harvard) in various ways. Boston University opens classes to our seniors, also provides tutors, hosts our graduation, and more; M.I.T. hosts our summer school, provides scores of tutors, and serves students through its weekend engineering SEED program; Harvard supports our after-school programs and provides tutors for our students.
Extended School Day and Year
Our high school day runs 8:30-5:00 Monday through Thursday with a shorter day on Friday. Many students also are tutored on weekends and during summers. Our middle school day runs from 7:30 to 4:30 Monday through Thursday. |
